The Ondo State Government has commended operatives of the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies for rescuing kidnap victims in Akure South Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the government said the operation reflected “bravery and professionalism” by security personnel.
The statement also praised the leadership of the Amotekun Corps, particularly the Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, for coordinating the overnight operation that led to the rescue of five victims in two incidents at Oke Ijebu and along the Oda–Akure axis.
According to the government, a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who were abducted at the Pelebe area along Oda Road, were rescued by the Rapid Response Squad after an exchange with the kidnappers in the early hours of the day. Three health workers who had earlier been abducted were also freed and are receiving medical attention.
The government noted that collaboration among security agencies played a key role in the outcome, while also acknowledging residents for providing timely information that aided the rescue efforts.
Reaffirming its position, the government said it remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state. The statement also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to sustain security efforts.
