Ondo 2016: Jegede picks PDP form

Published by

Ahead of the August 22 primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, the former Commissioner for Justice and the state Attorney General, Eyitayo Jegede, on Monday, picked the party’s nomination form and expression of interest to contest in the November 26 governorship election.

Jegede, who was the first PDP governorship aspirant to pick the N16million forms ahead of the party’s primaries, assured members of his desire to keep the aspiration and hope of the people of the state alive by carrying on with the developmental projects of the current administration.

The former commissioner, who was accompanied by a large crowd to the party secretariat, explained that the real change the people of the state deserved is to vote for a credible and suitable candidate in the November governorship election.

Jegede said he possessed the understanding and skills to speedily deliver dividends of democracy, appealing to party members, especially the delegates, to support his candidature during the party primaries.

He acknowledged that the party had other equally qualified aspirants but said it would be an easy task for him to defeat candidates of other political parties if he emerged as the party’s flag bearer.

Chairman of the party in the state, Clement Fanoyede, said all the aspirants were without blemish and assured members that the party would be transparent in picking its flagbearer.

He said “We are going to demonstrate the best of internal democracy during this election which will be transparent and rancour free.”

He disclosed that about 814 delegates across the wards in the state will participate in the exercise to produce the party’s candidate, urging the aspirants to continue with their political navigation.

Jegede is the first to buy the PDP nomination form out of the less than 10 aspirants that declared interest to contest on the party’s platform.
