I will forever remember a day I was with my mum in her shop inside of University of Lagos where a lecturer asked that am I the daughter mama used to talk about. He asked if I can come for rehearsal just to watch and enjoy. But getting there something happen, Late Prof. Bode Osanyin was the writer of the play, in his play he only write lyrics of (song and chants) he will not put the tune. He then said is there anyone in this hall that will take up the role of Heroine in the play (Oranmiyan) to played (Yemoja)a lot of students tried but getting to that point there will be pause, then he got angry and said for the last time that was when it really done on me then I stood up and pick up and I don’t know how really but I just found myself chanting and singing and next professor stood and was clapping before I could realize what was going on I saw a standing ovation for me in the hall and that was the beginning of my career.
What are the challenges you face in the music industryÂ
One of the major challenges in the music industry is ability to get to see one who naturally sees the potentials in you and your music for support. I mean they will always ask for something in return and this definitely frustrates the gift in you except where God says YES and of course you know no man can say no.
How would you describe the music industry? Â
Nigeria music industry is still growing from my own rating but the good thing is that the growth is taken shape and not just an abnormal growth. As you can see a fast development in the music industry where foreign beats is gradually phasing out in our industry compare to what we use to have in some years past. So I foresee a brighter future for our music industry.
Your Sunday event, what should we expect?
It is going to be wholesome, because the preparation for it, is very high and this is the first time in the history of gospel music that one will do graduation for her band members who today are eminently qualified to stand on their own to perform. The three graduands are Bukola Amusan, Sharon Orobiyi and Ayomide Omotayo. Also the choice of that church is equally significant.
