Wamba College Old Students Association (WACOSA) has promised to settle the over 3 years outstanding electricity bill of their alma-mata , which has left the school in darkness.
National President of the association Mr Tatus Ayuba-Alams, made the promise on Wednesday, at the National Convention of the Association in Lafia.
According to him, it was shocking when Principal of the school mentioned that electricity of the boarding school was disconnected since June 2014.
“This association will look at challenges confronting the school as listed by the Principal with the view of addressing them.
“We will work in synergy with management of the school to ensure the immediate reconnection of electricity, because how will the students study without electricity.
“Though the Principal mentioned many problems, we will address the light issue first but, we still have to know the exalt period and the amount,” he said.
He called on all former students of the school to register with the association to complement government’s efforts by giving back to the school that made them what they are in life.
Ayuba explained that the school which started in 1975 to 1988 as Government Teachers’ College, was later changed to Government College in 1989 to 2004 and it is now Government Girls College Wamba.
Earlier, the Principal of the school Mrs Rabi Yusuf, appealed to the association to assist in paying the outstanding electricity bill of the school to reconnect them to public power supply.
She also appealed to the state government to renovate all hostels, classrooms, employ chemistry, english teachers, matron and more security men, among others.
