Olamide, Timaya, 2 others, join Glo as brand ambassadors

One of Nigeria’s most celebrated musicians, Olamide Adedeji a.k.a. Olamide Badoo, the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa and philosophical Dance Hall artiste, Inetimi Alfred Odon popularly known as Timaya and two foremost Ghanaian actresses, Juliet Ibrahim and Joselyn Dumas, have all joined the prestigious group of brand ambassadors of telecommunications giant, Globacom.

Globacom disclosed in a press statement that Olamide was made a Glo ambassador because of his success in the music industry and for being an inspiration to millions of Nigerian youths, just like Timaya who is equally a model to youths, especially in the South-South part of Nigeria.

The four ambassadors have been inducted into the exclusive Hall of Fame for Globacom’s brand icons. Prominent among those in the elite group are stand-up comedians Basketmouth and Bovi Ugboma, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Hadizah Blell (Di’ja), Patience Ozokwor popularly called Mama G, Omawumi, Ego, Yvonne Nelson, MI. among other mega stars.

Olamide, 27, a graduate of the Tai Solarin University, Ijebu Ode, does hip-hop and raps mostly in his indigenous yoruba language with a superb blend of street patois. He has several musical hits in his kitty.  In 2011, he released his debut studio album Rapsodi.  YBNL, his follow-up album, was released under his label imprint YBNL Nation and  was supported by the singles “First of All”, “Voice of the Street”, “Stupid Love”, and “Ilefo Illuminati”. He released his third studio album Baddest Guy Ever Liveth in 2013 with singles like “Durosoke” and “Yemi My Lover”. Other hits from his stable include PepeSneh, Sakitibobo, Konkobility, Who you epp and Eeyan Mayweather.  Olamide has been nominated and won several music awards, including multiple Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies.

Timaya, another resourceful artiste and style icon, is known for traversing the genres of raga, hip-hop, dancehall and afro beat, and is a highly successful artiste with several highly rated albums such as True Story, Gift and Grace, De Rebirth, LLNP and Upgrade. He is the founder of South-South hip hop group, Dem Mama Soldiers. His solo career began in 2005 with the release of Dem Mama, which also appeared on his debut album, True Story which was released the following year. He is a multiple award winner and has to his credit four Headies Awards and one Nigerian Music Award.  In 2011, Timaya was appointed a Peace Ambassador by the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP).

Delectable Joselyn Dumas is a Ghanaian television host and actress. She was a practicing para-legal until 2014 when she starred in A Northern Affair, a role that earned her a Ghana Movie Award and an Africa Movie Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She made her debut on Television as the host of Charter House’s Rhythmz, an entertainment show, which saw her interviewing many celebrities. She was head-hunted by one of Ghana’s biggest Television Networks to host their first own produced flagship Talk show, The One Show, which was aired from 2010 to 2014. She is currently the host for a new TV talk show @ Home with Joselyn Dumas which is aired across Africa and parts of Europe.

Juliet Ibrahim, described as one of the prettiest female faces in Africa, is a Ghanaian actress, film producer, singer and humanitarian of Lebanese, Liberian and Ghanaian descent. She won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards. A polyglot who speaks English, French and Spanish, Ibrahim studied Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations at the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
