Baring last minute change, the Olubadan designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin will mount the throne of his forbears after the State burial of the immediate past monarch, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun slated for Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the main bowl of Obafemi Awolowo stadium, Ibadan.
Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered that the coronation date will be announced immediately after the burial programme which will have in attendance the Executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde and dignitaries from all walks of life
Also, the newly built multi million naira Olubadan palace at Oke Aremo in Ibadan North local government area will be commissioned two days before a yet to be fixed coronation date.
Our source reveals that Governor Seyi Makinde will give his consent to the nomination of Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan any time from now.
It will be recalled that Olubadan in Council had last month forwarded the name of Oba Olakulehin to the governor through the Ministry of Local government and Chieftancy Affairs as their nominee for the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Also, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja had withdrawn a suit filed against other members of the Council over alleged threat to his kingship ambition in order to facilitate the process of enthronement of Oba Olakulehin.
Oba Olakulehin has been receiving visitors as Olubadan designate in Alalubosa GRA residence.
An inside family source told our correspondent that necessary arrangement has been put in place at ensuring a hitch free coronation ceremony
“The family is in touch with the political leader of the state and members of the Olubadan in Council.
“Baba has cordial relationship with members of the Olubadan in Council. I can authoritatively tell you that there is no I’ll feelings.
“Baba has been attending to visitors from various groups. He is in high Spirit”
