Okere-Urhobo traditional ruler passes on

The traditional ruler of Okere-Urhobo kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Prof Paul Oghenero Okumagba IDAMA 11, has passed on.
The demise of the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom filtered in Friday with several chiefs of the kingdom paying homage to the departed.
He was barely two years on the throne of his forebears before his passing having ascended the throne of his ancestors in October 2017.
Scores of chiefs were in the palace of the departed king and a black cloth was used to cover the royal seat of the monarch in his palace to indicate his demise.
His vacant seat covered with a mournful cloth.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr Michael Tidi has condoled with people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, over the shock demise of their Orosuen, Prof. Paul Oghenero Okumagba, Idama II.

Dr Tidi, who was deeply saddened by reports of the monarch’s transition, recalled Prof. Okumagba’s academic exploit at the Delta State University, Abraka and the role he played towards enhancing the educational standard of the state-owned institution.
The LG boss enjoined people of Okere-Urhobo to take solace in the fact that the departed monarch left a legacy of academic excellence, integrity and leadership by humility.
Tidi enjoined Okere-Urhobo indigenes to sustain the prevailing peace in the kingdom and other parts of Warri South Local Government Area, stressing that it is only peace that can guarantee the much-needed development and attract investors.
Late Professor Okumagba, who is the first monarch of Okere-Urhobo to receive a Staff of Office from Delta State Government, was a Professor of Sociology at DELSU, Abraka.
