Youths in Ogun State on Friday rallied support for the Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, ahead of his fight with Kubrat Pulev, set to hold on Saturday.
The rally, held in Sagamu, the home town of Joshua, was led by the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youths, Lamide Lawal, towards a successful outing.
Joshua will be engaging Pulev to defend his WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles against Pulev at Wembley Arena in London.
The governor’s aide noted the that the rally became imperative to mobilise support for his victory.
He explained that Governor Abiodun’s passion for youth development in different areas could not be over emphasized.
Lawal hinted that state government had decided to televise the fight at five different locations in the state, namely Sagamu, Ota, Ijebu-Ode, Ilaro and Abeokuta.
While lauding the initiative, Lawal, insisted that the youths having the benefit to watch the fight for free of charge would inspired many of them to develop a passion in sports, in a bid to succeed in life.
“We all saw the way His Excellency supported Laycon to victory in the last edition of BBNaija, It goes a long way in showing that he is a youth loving Governor and he is extending this same hand of solidarity and Support to Joshua, for him to emerge victorious on Saturday,” he concluded.
Also speaking, the boxer’s brother, Uwa Ajakaiye Joshua, appreciated the governor and the youths for support.
