Oghara people in jubilation over Ibori’s release

Some people in Oghara, the country home of Chief James Ibori, former Delta State governor, are jubilating over the release of their son, who had been in prison in the UK for money laundering.

Ibori was sentenced by a United Kingdom court to prison for 13 years and served out his term midnight of Tuesday.

Celebration of his freedom by his friends and political associates has continued in Oghara.

However, the release of Ibori, has started generating reactions from his kinsmen in the state, immediately few minutes past noon on Wednesday upon a court order effecting his freedom.

His media aide, Mr. Tony Elumenor,  confirmed his release from the London prison.

Traditional ruler of Oghara, Ovie Orefe II, HRM Noble Eshemitan, when contacted on phone by Nigerian Tribune, declined comment, simply saying, “I don’t make press statements.”

But the ousted senator representing Delta Central district, Chief Ighoyota Amori, in a joyous mood, said: “Chief James Ibori finally released without condition. Congratulations.

“We thank all for their support and give God all the glory.”

Meanwhile, Chief Press Secretary to governor of Delta State, Mr Charles Aniagwu, while reacting to the release of Ibori, said the state government was yet to be formerly informed.

“My dear, we need to get official information before we can react.

I’m waiting for an official information before we react, ” Aniagwu noted.
