Ogbomoso stands still for Alao-Akala, as son decamps to ADP from APC

THE people of Ogbomoso town yesterday on Thursday trooped out to show support for their son, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and former governor of the state on his grand campaign of Ogbomoso land.

It was a complete standstill for hours as the ADP candidate moved across the town and people in their hundreds trooped out to join the roadshow and show their support.

The highlight of the campaign was the presence of his son, Olamiju Alao-Akala, who is the chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Olamiju campaigned for his father’s ambition based on his belief that his father has a good plan for the people of the state as well as the experience and ability to turn the fortune of the state around.

He stated he joined his father’s campaign train because he believes in the cause and the good vision of the former governor. He moved round the town with the campaign team on a road show which started from the Opadoyin Lodge residence of the ADP candidate.

“I am back home. Alao-Akala is everybody’s father, not my father alone. He has done it before, he will do it better. He is the most qualified for the job. Vote for him. I am back home, I am now in ADP,” he said.

The campaign train moved from his residence through seminary road to caretaker road, Arowomole, Ijeru where he visited with the king then moved through Laka, Saja, Orita Naira to Ojagbo at the palace entrance.

Alao-Akala while speaking thanked Senator Abiola Ajimobi and his wife for taking good care of Olamiju, his son and for doing a good job in the care, adding that his son is back home to his people who voted him into office as a local government chairman and the ADP.

At the palace, Alao-Akala presented copies of a magazine titled ‘issues’, containing his manifesto and vision to the Onpetu and asked that as a father, he should enlighten the people to support the ADP as the party that has the interest of the people at heart.

Oba Oyediran in response said God is in charge of all affairs of man and he is the one that determines tomorrow, adding that it is his prayer that God will put the love of Alao-Akala on the heart of the people to support his ambition.

“You have said times without number that you have what you will eat and it is because of the downtrodden masses that you are seeking to become the governor; this is compassion and sacrifice and it is laudable.

“I pray for a new dawn in Oyo state and I pray that when it comes, none will be missing. I want to add over copies of a booklet I authored titled, ‘For a better Oyo state’, I want you to go through it. It is my contribution to making our state a better one.

“You may not take all the suggestions but I know there will be some that will fit in with your agenda. Please consider them so that the fortune of this state will turn around for good,” Oba Oyediran stated.

Alao-Akala had earlier told the king and his cabinet that he only came to inform his father of his ambition and get his blessings, adding that as a father, he knows what his child is capable of.

“Kabiesi, I am not going to waste your time or that of the chiefs, I am only here for fatherly blessings. You know my abilities and my love for the people; I am not a stranger and I have not changed from the person you know, I don’t give false promises and I promise things will change for the better under me and the people will smile again,” he said.
