THE authorities of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu have debunked the allegation that the embattled rector of Igbajo Polytechnic, Mr Olaolu Akinola Olugbenga was once an Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
The university in a release signed by its Registrar, Mrs Adeline Adeyemi, stated that though Mr Olaolu Olugbenga was once a staff of the institution, employed as a Lecturer 1, he never held any position of responsibility throughout his short and inglorious stay as a staff of the university.
The release added that the embattled rector who is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission over allegation of PhD certificate forgery was dismissed from the employment of the university over allegation of the same questionable qualifications which he failed to defend as he fled the university before he could be accosted and handed over to the police.
The authorities noted that the release was necessary to set the records straight for the members of the public as Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu is a respectable institution which would not condone or support any form of certificate forgery or racketeering in any form
Mr Olugbenga, who is currently being detained at the Ibadan, Oyo State office of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, is undergoing interrogation after preliminary investigations carried out by operatives of acting on a petition confirmed that he was actually working with a fake PhD certificate purportedly from the University of Ibadan.
