NYSC outlaws night parties, picnic for Corps members

NYSCTHE Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, on Tuesday, said the scheme has banned corps members from organising social events, picnic or night parties without the consent of appropriate authority.

Kazaure who stated this in Ikare Akoko, in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, while addressing corps members in the state said every social gathering should be put on hold.

He said the directive never imperative because of the sad and devastating incident which occurred in Taraba state where nine corps member lost their lives while on a social outing.

The NYSC DG urged the Corps member to always put in their best in serving their fatherland saying that “serving the fatherland was all about devotion, and you must learn the necessary skills while in camp.”

“I am sure you are aware we lost nine corps members in Taraba, they were 2018 batch A corps, members.

“Whenever you are going to embark on any social outings, you must seek clearance from NYSC officials, either the Local Government Inspectors or the state Coordinator, that’s the new directive,” he said.

He urged them to respect the culture of their host communities urging them to learn from their history while he reiterated the commitment of the scheme towards providing adequate security for corps members nationwide.
