Bothered with the alarming number of unqualified graduates mobilised for national service, the National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) has partnered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC) in combating fraudulent mobilisations.
This is even as it accused neighbouring countries such as Cotonou and Benin republic of sending names of non- graduates for service.
NYSC Director General( DG) Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim stated this when he paid EFCC Acting Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu a visit at the EFCC Headquarters, Abuja.
The DG, who disclosed that the scheme was already investigating the issue, appealed to the EFCC boss to support the NYSC in tackling the menace.

“Mr Chairman, it is very unfortunate that some institutions of higher learning, particularly in Cotonou, the Benin Republic present to us people who didn’t go to the four walls of the university as graduates for mobilisation”.
“Currently, we are investigating some of such so-called graduates, many of whom cannot write or spell any word in English,” he lamented.
While decrying the increasing rate of corruption in the country, he maintained that he will ensure that, staff and Corps Members prioritise the anti-corruption fight.
He stressed that the war against corruption requires the support of all and sundry and said this informed the partnership with all anti-graft agencies of government to eradicate the deadly menace.
In his response, Magu condemned practices where academic qualifications are sold to unqualified graduates, stating that perpetrators are bringing shame to the nation by their unsatisfiable desire to make money at all cost.
However, he pledged the agency’s support to tackle the menace.
