Kazaure asserted the role of the orientation exercise during his welcome address at the opening ceremony for the 2018 Batch ‘A’ pre-orientation workshop held at the Premier Hotel, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, 4th April 2018.
The DG said the orientation exercise plays a vital role in the success of the service year of any corps member, being the first point of contact of corps members with the scheme.
“The quality of the orientation exercise determines the commitment of the corps members to national service.” He said.
He thereby, declared the workshop open by disclosing the theme of the year’s workshop as “Achieving the NYSC mandate through an effective orientation course”.
The DG further disclosed that Oyo State was chosen to host the 4-day 2018 Batch ‘A’ Pre-orientation exercise in appreciation of the unalloyed support the scheme enjoys from Oyo State government and the good people of the state.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Governor in his own speech delivered by his Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, appreciated the leadership of the NYSC for the inherent endowment and commitment towards making the exercise a training ground for the Nigerian youth.
“The scheme has contributed a lot by grooming Nigerian youths to the service of their fatherland.” He said.
While giving the vote thanks, the Oyo State NYSC coordinator, Mrs Ifeoma E. Anidobi appreciated the NYSC director for giving her the opportunity of hosting the entire NYSC nationwide officials in the state.
She further applauded the Oyo State government for the up-to-date payment of entitlement of the corps members serving in the state.
Also present at the event was the representative of the Olubadan, The Agbakin of Ibadan land; High Chief Oloye Lekan Alabi, the representative of the Oyo State Chief Judge; Justice Molagbute, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sport; Barrister Yomi Oke; as well the representatives of NYSC collaborating agencies.
