The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Margret Oguntala, has commended the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its exemplary projects in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
During an on-the-spot assessment inspection to the NEDC headquarters in Maiduguri on Tuesday, Oguntala praised the commission headquarters project’s meticulous planning, design, and implementation.
She noted that the project aligns seamlessly with the society’s goals and objectives.
The visit was part of the society’s annual retreat for 2024/2025, graciously hosted by the Borno State Governor in Maiduguri.
As part of the program, the society paid an infrastructure visit to the NEDC project site.
Oguntala emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the NEDC, citing the society’s memorandum of understanding with the commission.
She added that the society’s chapter in Borno is working closely with the NEDC.
The President also highlighted the society’s efforts to mitigate future flooding in the state through the reconstruction of the Alao Dam. She called on the government and people of Borno to involve engineers in building houses and other infrastructure to prevent building collapses.
Oguntala urged citizens to consult with the Nigerian Society of Engineers when undertaking building projects to ensure that they benefit from the society’s expertise.
