NSCDC inaugurates agro rangers in Kwara to ensure food security

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara state command, has inaugurated a team of agro rangers towards ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders in the state.

Speaking during the official inauguration of the agro rangers as well as decoration of 158 newly promoted officers of the corps in Ilorin on Monday, the Assistant Commandant General of the corps in charge of Zone D, Muhammed Aliyu, called on the security team to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in the discharge of their task of ensuring food security in the country.

Represented by Paul Kolawole Ayeni, the NSCDC boss said that the task ahead of the Agro Rangers is enormous.

He explained that the federal government’s diversification from oil to agriculture had attracted criminal elements to the state.

Aliyu said that the corps would, therefore, be saddled with the responsibility of ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

He also said that without peace in the farming communities the aim of attaining food security would be a mirage.

He urged all the officers and men of the corps to ensure they discharge their duties diligently.

Also speaking, the Kwara state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Bello Ale, advised the Agro Rangers as well as the newly promoted officers to remain committed to their duties at all times.
