As part of its effort to improving digital inclusion for national economic development, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has commenced the South-West Zonal Women ICT Training and Empowerment at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti.
The capacity building programme is geared towards boosting digital literacy, creating digital jobs, promoting digital inclusion, and using technology to address the gender imbalance in economic opportunities.
The week-long programme which commenced on the 8th December 2019, focuses on key ICT skill areas including entrepreneurship development, business management, ICT, communication and graphic design.
According to a tweet on NITDA’s twitter handle, the programme is part of NITDA’s effort to implement federal government’s key priorities of economic diversification, job creation, investing in the Nigerian people and achieving gender balance in economic opportunities.

Apart from the programme being part of the agency’s effort to achieve this administration’s priorities in economic diversification, it is also part of NITDA’s strategy towards the realization of President Buhari’s promise to take 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.
The ICT training and empowerment program is fully funded as participants are being provided with accommodation, feeding and healthcare services for the duration of the training.
After the training also, each participant will receive a laptop computer system, dongle, stipend and other tools to aid their future pursuits.
