NIPSS refutes claims that Olubodun is their youngest alumni

Published by

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has debunked the claim that a 23-year-old individual from Oyo State is their youngest alumnus.

In a statement released by the institute’s Head of Public Affairs, Professor Sola Adeyanju Mni, it was clarified that the individual mentioned, Ayomide Shukurat Olubodun, participated in a short course offered by the institute known as the Policy, Strategy, and Leadership Course, which typically spans one month.

The headline, however, inaccurately suggested that the candidate attended the extensive ten-month Senior Executive Course (SEC), leading to the award of Member of the National Institute (MNI).

The NIPSS emphasized the distinction between the short courses and the flagship Senior Executive Course, underscoring that only participants of the latter are recognized as members of the United Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI).

Addressing the public, the institute urged clarity on differentiating between Short Courses and the Senior Executive Course, cautioning participants of the Short Courses at the National Institute to be mindful of media representation concerning the institution.

“The story was about one Ayomide Shukurat Olubodun, who participated in one of the short courses run by the institute (Policy, Strategy, and Leadership Course), which normally lasts for one month. However, the headline gave the erroneous impression that the candidate attended the prestigious ten-month Senior Executive Course (SEC), leading to the award of Member of the National Institute (MNI).

“Accordingly, the National Institute wishes to state as follows:The headline of the story is misleading, as it did not differentiate between the short course and the flagship senior executive course in the National Institute.”
