Nine dead, 60 injured in Kogi autocrash — FRSC

The death toll from Tuesday’s autocrash in Kogi has risen to nine, according to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The crash, which occurred along Zone 8 – Crusher Road in Lokoja, involved an articulated vehicle conveying animals and human beings from Bauchi State to Enugu State.

Initially, six persons were reported dead, while 60 others were injured.

However, FRSC Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, disclosed that three of the injured persons rushed to the Kogi Specialist Hospital and the Federal University Teaching Hospital Lokoja, succumbed to their injuries on Thursday.

The victims, who died due to the severity of their injuries, were confirmed dead at the hospitals.

The corpses of the six initial victims were deposited at the Federal University Teaching Hospital.

“Two of the victims died at the Kogi Specialist Hospital while one died at the Federal University Teaching Hospital Lokoja.

“It’s very unfortunate that the victims couldn’t make it due to the severity of their injuries,” he told NAN.
