Nigerians ‘smartest people’ in the world — Akon

Published by

Senegalese-American singer, Akon says Nigerians are the “smartest people” in the world.

In a recent interview on the Drink Champs podcast, the music executive described Nigerians as “extremely talented people”.

The 50-year-old Senegalese also said “more billionaires are being made in Nigeria” than in any other country.

“Nigeria is compared to New York City.

This could be debatable but Nigerians are the smartest people on the planet,” he said.

“I promise you, there is nobody smarter than a Nigerian. Now of course there are a few bad apples that came out but they are extremely smart.

“They just put their intelligence into the wrong place.

“If they were to gear that towards something more positive or productive…

Because the ones that did, there are more billionaires being made in Nigeria than anywhere in the world.”

Akon, known for songs like ‘Locked Up’, ‘Lonely’ and ‘Oh Africa’, had previously announced his plans to build a futuristic “100 percent crypto-based city” on 2,000 acres of land.

He is among globally acclaimed artistes who appear to be reconnecting with their African roots.

In 2019, the singer used Wizkid, Davido, and P-Square as case studies, when stating that contracts don’t exist in Africa, especially Nigeria.

In 2022, Akon described Davido as the “hardest working artiste”.
