Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Salihu Yakubu Danladi has congratulated Nigerians as the country marks its 59th independence anniversary.

The Speaker, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Ibrahim Sheriff, said that “while thanking God Almighty over the relative peace we have in Nigeria despite our diversities and challenges, we pray peace returns to troubled parts of the country.”

The Gwanara born legislator, however, charged Nigerians to strengthen their patriotism and belief in the country, noting that the selflessness and sacrifices of our heroes past were borne out of their unequalled patriotism that earned us the independence we enjoy today.

“It is therefore imperative for us all to recognize our roles as leaders, citizens and relevant stakeholders in realizing the vision of our heroes past; vision of a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria.

“Let us continue to pray for Nigeria and do all in our ability to sustain the spirit of relentlessness, perseverance and sacrifice that led to our independence to realize a greater Nigeria that we can be more proud of,” he said.
