New CP warns criminals to steer clear of Niger

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman, has assumed duty at the State Command Headquarters in Minna with a stern warning to criminal elements to stay away or face the full weight of the law.

Speaking on Friday, the CP emphasised that under his leadership, the command would uphold high professional standards in policing the state. He called on well-meaning individuals and critical stakeholders to collaborate with the police in ensuring a crime-free Niger State.

“I’m already aware of the activities of youth restiveness and other criminal activities in Minna, the state capital, and its environs. I assure you that I will make the state unbearable for them,” he stated.

Speaking through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, CP Elleman reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order through community-based policing. He warned that the police would not tolerate any attempts by criminal elements to disrupt the security of residents.

“As you are all aware, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman, took over the mantle of leadership of the command on Thursday, 27th March 2025. He has addressed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other sectional heads of the command. He assured them of his commitment to building on the legacy of his predecessor, CP Ebenezer Shawulu Danmaman,” the PPRO stated.

The CP also urged officers to extend their cooperation in ensuring that criminal activities are curtailed to the barest minimum, particularly in Minna, the state capital.

Ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, CP Elleman disclosed that the command would deploy sufficient personnel to all prayer grounds across the state to ensure the safety of worshippers.

He also advised parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards, cautioning them against any actions that could lead to legal consequences.

While commending officers for their professionalism in maintaining law and order, CP Elleman warned that he has zero tolerance for unprofessional conduct that could tarnish the reputation of the command.
