THREE suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Oyo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency with Indian hemp weighing 829.75kg, as well as 50kg of psychotropic substances.
The agency, in a statement made available to TribuneOnline, and signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mutiat Okuwobi, the first suspect, Bayo Moses, who claimed to be a prophet, specialised in farming Indian hemp at Olomi area of Ibadan, the state capital.
“Moses was caught with weed suspected to be Indian hemp which weighed 118.2 kilogrammes on Novermber 3.

“A follow-up operation was carried out after the arrest of the 54-year-old Moses, which led to the recovery of another of 472.9 kilogrammes in Indian hemp at Olode village in Akorede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the Oluyole Local Government Area in Ibadan.
“During this follow-up operation, Yakuba Ganiyu, who is storing the Indian hemp, was arrested, while some exhibits were recovered.
“Also, another set of anti-drug operatives equally carried out an operation on November 7, which led to the arrest of one Bashiru Adepoju (35) at the meat market in Bodija, Ibadan. He was found with 237.9kilogrammes of Indian hemp, despite claiming to be a businessman.
“So far, the agency had recovered 829.75kilogrammes of Indian hemp and 50kilogrammes of psychotropic substances in the month of November,” Okuwobi stated.
The PRO said the state NDLEA commander, Mrs Omolade Faboyede, pledged that the agency would leave no stone unturned in bringing offenders to book, as we are already in the peak period for drug traffickers.
