In recognition of an exemplary gesture and great contributions to cultural activities, the National Museum of Unity Ibadan has honoured Ambassador Romoke Ayinde with a distinguished cultural recognition award.
The award was presented at activities marking the 2023 International Museum Day celebration at the Oba Alado Awaye’s Hall of the museum in Ibadan.
Speaking on the theme: Museums, Sustainability and Wellbeing, the Curator, National Museum of Unity, Ibadan, Mrs Oriyomi Pamela Otuka, who represented the director-general, National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Professor Abba Isa Tijani, stated that through the years, International Museum Day has become a veritable avenue to advocate the role of museums in the society.
She added that the theme for the year’s Museum Day has opened up huge possibilities for museums and cultural organisations to engage with the health and well-being of society.
In his remarks, Dr Yemi Farounbi challenged participating students from different schools to be in-charge of their today as leaders of tomorrow and urged them not to throw away their cultural values and use most objects in museums to aid their teachings.
The recipient, Ambassador Ayinde in her remarks, dedicated the award to all the students in attendance while offering 100 of the students and 30 of the Museum’s staffers a free vocational training through her Imperial Initiatives For Human Development.
