Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa State Governor

The Nasarawa State Government said that it would adapt and make use of research findings from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) located in Karu Local government council of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by Yakubu Lamai, Director General; Strategic, Communication and Press Affairs to Governor Abdulahi Sule of the state, and made available to pressmen, stating that the Governor while on exploration visit to congratulate the NIPSS’s Director-General, Professor Habu Galadima on his recent appointment as head of the organisation, vowed to adapt and use its findings.

“It will be recalled that Professor Habu Galadima, an indigene of Nasarawa State formally took the mantle of leadership at NIPSS over three months ago from Mr Jonathan Mela Juma, mni, on Tuesday, 6th of August, 2019. Mr Jonathan Mela Juma mni had been overseeing the affairs of the National Institute in an acting capacity since 26 February 2016.”

“Since his appointment as Director-General by the Federal Government and subsequent confirmation by the Senate, Professor Galadima has focused his efforts in repositioning NIPSS for greater effectiveness as the nation’s “think tank” by ensuring that the Institute conducts more courses and making NIPPS more visible in its core mandate of making Nigeria a better society,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Governor also noted that NIPSS is a national and international think tank of cognate repute and worthy repository of knowledge which is galvanizing best brains in Nigeria, to meticulously find a lasting solution to numerous problems facing the country and the world at large.

He then applauded the organisation for its global centre of research and reflection, noting that the innovative and dynamic policy initiatives developed by the crop of top-class technocrats at the Institute will be vigorously adopted by the state to anchor their vision and strategies of better governance for national development and to take Nigeria to the next level!

“In this regard, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule stated that his administration in Nasarawa State will put to use and adopt the robust ideas evolved by NIPSS and its seasoned policy initiators in a way that fits perfectly with his vision to industrialize Nasarawa State and add impetus to his blueprint of NEDS: Nasarawa Development Strategy, which he evolved to steer the affairs of government and make Nasarawa among the top three most competitive states in Nigeria by 2023.

“In his response, the Director-General NIPSS, Professor Habu Galadima revealed that during the struggle for the creation of Nasarawa State in 1996, he was the Youth Chairman of Movement for the Creation of Nasarawa State and that today he is fulfilled that by divine providence, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule as Governor, is bringing to bear his business acumen and wide global contacts to propel economic development in Karu axis, ensuring that Nasarawa State is finally maximizing the benefits of its proximity to Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory,” the statement added.
