THE National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has advised politicians who lost out in the just concluded 2019 general elections to brace themselves for the next opportunity and not heat up the polity.
“They should imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and be reminded that in any contest, a winner must emerge and that those who lost today may win at another time,” the organisation said in a statement signed by its National President, Mallam Suleiman Sani Maigoro and National Secretary General, Alhaji Mas’ud Akintola.
It described as unfortunate, the violence that dogged the elections in parts of the country which led to the death of several people, including corps members and a member of the National Assembly.
NACOMYO commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed for quick recovery for the injured.
It commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organising what it called generally credible elections but implored the commission to review its activities with a view to correcting its lapses.
The organisation urged the election winners to be magnanimous in victory and fulfill their promises to Nigerians.
