My uncle, Ademola Adeleke, is best governor Osun ever had – Davido

Afrobeat star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has claimed that his uncle and incumbent Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, is the best governor the state ever had.

Davido said this while appearing on the Culture Knock Out podcast, hosted by Chris and Baloo, where he affirmed his respect for his leadership. He also expressed that people judged him because of his love for dancing, but he has proven himself to be highly competent.

According to the Grammy-nominated singer, his uncle is an example of not judging people by their appearance.

He said, “My uncle, the Dancing Governor is good vibes. He has an amazing story, he is the last born of my dad’s family. They [Osun people] never believed that he would become a Governor.

“He is a real example of ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’; just because somebody likes to dance and have a good time, it doesn’t mean when it is time to work, he won’t. Now, he’s been the best Governor that they’ve ever had.”

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke emerged the Osun State governor in 2022 after polling highest votes in keenly contested gubernatorial election against the then incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As the 2026 off-cycle election in the state approaches, the Governor recently declared that he has no plan to defect to the APC amidst wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling APC at the center.

Tribune Online also reports that stakeholders in Osun State have also endorsed Governor Adeleke as the choice of the PDP to fly the party’s flag in the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
