Muslims urged to study Quran with emphasis on meaning, translation

Muslims in the country have been urged to venture into Quranic studies with special devotion to its meanings and translation.

Speaking at the final ceremony of the 2023 Quranic recitation competition in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday, the Director-General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) Abuja, Professor Abubakar Sulaimon, said that “we can only strengthen our faith and love for Islam” through such

“Learning the translation of the Holy Quran will enhance our spiritual development and promote peace, unity, and harmony among us.

“Through the learning of its meaning and translation, we shall be more knowledgeable about our noble religion of Islam and the principles of justice, fairness, equity, and unity that it preaches,” he said.

He also used the occasion to rally Nigerians to support the economic reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I urge all Kwarans and Nigerians to be more united, be tolerant of each other, and support the economic reform agenda of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to move the country out of its present economic doldrums”, he said.

Earlier, the state’s chairman of the Quran recitation committee, Alhaji Shehu Abdulgafar, while recounting the success stories of the indigenes at various Quranic competitions across the world, commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his financial and moral support of the committee and the course.
