Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano records 1,000 childbirth monthly, says CMD

The Chief Medical Director of Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital, Kano, Hussaini Muhammad has said that the hospital records 1,000 childbirth monthly.
This was just as he disclosed that the facility records 1000 deliveries, with about 250 cesarean session on monthly basis.

Disclosing this on Saturday at a special event organized to honour 22 staff for outstanding performance, Dr. Muhammad added that the hospital offers antenatal services to over 450 women as well as over 7,000 outpatients’ cases daily.

According to him, the event was organised to appreciate and acknowledge hardworking staff who performed wonderfully in improving quality service delivery in the hospital.

Mr Hussaini traced the history of the hospital, saying it was established in 1926 with 15 bed capacity, but now it has about 10,000 beds.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner for Health, Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, noted that the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital is the largest public hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He, however, extolled the Chief Medical Director and other management staff of the facility for organizing the event which he said it is in line with the Ganduje-led administration’s resolve to organize a state wide presentation of awards to the deserving facilities and best performing health workers.
“We know how relentless His Excellency is. We know how steadfast he is, most especially in healthcare provision to the teeming Kano indigenes, people of neighboring states and even those from neighboring countries as well.
Speaking on his behalf, the Director General Hospitals Management Board, Nasiru Alhassan Kabo, Mr Tsanyawa, all the modest achievements the hospital recorded were made by the hospital is linked to excellent leadership style of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
