Missing person not our student — KWASU

Management of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has said that the missing 24-year-old AbdulMueez Olamilekan Jimoh, is not a student of the university.

It is recalled that it had earlier being reported reported across platforms that a missing 24-year-old student of the institution, AbdulMueez Olamilekan Jimoh, was said to have left Malete for Ilorin on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

In a statement by the acting director, University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, said that university records had showed that AbdulMueez Olamilekan Jimoh stopped paying school fees and stopped registering for courses in the university since the 2021/2022 session when he would have been in his second year of study.

However, mother of the missing boy, Mrs. Amdalat Jimoh, expressed worry and surprise over the development, saying that her child had been collecting tuition fees from home since.

“We are yet to see or hear from him. Please we need the prayers of everybody.

“We last heard from him on Thursday last week”.

When told about the position of the institution that Mueez has long ceased to be a student of the school, the mother said, “He told us he was going to school and had been collecting money. Well, God is in control.”

The KWASU statement reads: DISCLAIMER: MISSING PERSON NOT KWASU STUDENT

“The attention of the management of Kwara State University, Malete, has been drawn to several social media, blogs, and newspaper posts about a missing 24-year-old student of the institution, AbdulMueez Olamilekan Jimoh, who was said to have left Malete for Ilorin on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

“Records in the University show that AbdulMueez Olamilekan Jimoh stopped paying school fees and stopped registering for courses in the university since the 2021/2022 session when he would have been in his second year of study.

“This action of failing to pay fees and register for courses for his second year and subsequent years when he would have been in his third and fourth years of study, without written approval from the institution, amounts to him voluntarily withdrawing from the university.

“As such, the management of Kwara State University KWASU, Malete, wishes to state categorically that AbdulMueez Olamilekan Jimoh is NOT a student of Kwara State University, Malete.

“It is worthy of mention that the Nigerian Police is working actively to find him.”
