THE lawmaker representing Ijesa-South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Ajibola Famurewa, has condemned assertions by some politicians in Osun State that the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is a Lagosian, describing such statements as mischievous and fallacious.
Famurewa in an interactive session on Wednesday insisted that Aregbosola is not a foreign politician but a good manager of the resources of Osun state, adding that if not for the economic intelligence and financial prudence of the governor, the state would have been in more financial crisis than it is at present.
The lawmaker stated that despite the economic quagmire of the state, Aregbesola is able to reduce its adverse effect on the people of the state, particularly on the civil servants and development of the state.
According to him, the massive infrastructural projects being done by Aregbesola despite the economic downturn reflected his good management of the state’s resources and passion for the state’s development.
“It is on record that chunk of political appointees and elective office holders in the history of Osun have one time in their working career lived outside Osun. Cases at hand are all former governors; Isiaka Adeleke, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Baba Bisi Akande who lived and worked between Ibadan and Lagos state prior to his election as governor in 1999, among others,” he said.
Famurewa enjoined all residents and citizens of the state to rally round the governor as he continues in the delivery of his electioneering promises and cautioned mischief makers to desist from smearing Aregbesola’s image, saying that the governor deserves commendation.
