Sensational Nigerian vocalist and songwriter, Mayowa Olagboye, with stage name Mayor Olly has recently released his much anticipated EP titled “Alté Ganza”.
Olly said he named the EP “Ganza” because it is a moniker for originality which he is willing to give to his numerous fans.
While speaking on his kind of music, Olly said he likes to do afro-pop and contemporary R&B music to spice up a touch of blues flavour.
”I am influenced by R&B but again, I love high life, raggae and soul music especially those from the 80’s. So I devote my sound to the pop rhythm style that I find easy to understand and since pop is a universal language of music across globe, anyone can relate to my music appropriately.”
Reacting on musicians that have influenced him, Olly said he grew up listening to 2face, Brymo, Asa, Lagbaja and the likes of Michael Jackson, Drake and Kizz Daniel who have all influence his style in one way or two.
Alternatively, Olly asserted that he likes to be called ‘Tha Ganza’ too because of his originality and influence of his songs on people.
