THE Police in Ogun State has uncovered a plan by some elements to disrupt the May 29th inauguration of Prince Dapo Abiodun as the 5th democratically elected governor of the state.
This was contained in a release by the Command’s image maker, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made available to Tribune Online on Tuesday, that security intelligence report at its disposal indicated that some disgruntled elements were hell-bent to cause confusion during the ceremony.
Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police explained that the elements had planned to embark on rallies and processions in public places on issues relating to chieftaincy, land matters and other issues, rather than seeking redress in the court of law.
He added that any group of people who intends to hold rallies, processions and assemblies should contact the office of the Police Commissioner for necessary approval.

DSP Oyeyemi added that all security formations within the Command had been put on alert to checkmate any criminally-minded persons.
The PPRO said the Command would deal decisively with anyone or group of people who intend to foment trouble, no matter highly placed such people might be.
The statement reads “The security intelligence at the disposal of Ogun State Police reveals that some unscrupulous elements are scheming to foment trouble across the State with a view of disrupting the inauguration of the new administration scheduled for 29th May 2019.
“Rallies, processions and assemblies in public places are being orchestrated by these enemies of peace seems to resolve chieftaincy and land-related matters rather than approaching the Court to seek justice. All of these are aimed at heating up the State before the inauguration.
“In view of this, the Command has put in place a robust security arrangement aimed at checkmating such trouble makers and other criminally-minded persons, including miscreants and disgruntled elements. The special units of the Command namely SARS, PMF, STS, Anti kidnapping as well as DPOS and Area Commanders have been placed on red alert with specific instruction to closely monitor these misguided elements and respond swiftly to any distress calls and disturbance of public peace.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has also ordered twenty-four hourly surveillance patrols across the length and breadth of the State.”
