The Nasarawa State Government has said that the ongoing 2.6-kilometre Mararaba-Nyanya Flyover and adjoining road project will be completed by December 2026.
The Managing Director of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board, Engr. Wada Yahaya, disclosed this during an inspection tour by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Team, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
According to Wada, the project is designed to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory.
“There were several attempts to solve the traffic problem in Mararaba, but Governor Abdullahi Sule came up with the final solution: a continuous 2.6km flyover that will pass over the critical area without disrupting business activities,” he said.
“The design includes two flyover bridges, an elevated road of 2.6km, and five pedestrian bridges to enable people to cross at different points without going to the roundabout.”
Wada said the project is estimated to cost the state about ₦40 billion for construction alone. Additional costs include over ₦1.1 billion for compensation and more than ₦1 billion for road furniture such as markings, signage, and streetlights.
“In total, we will spend between ₦43 billion and ₦44 billion on the project,” he stated. “It will reduce travel time from Abuja to Keffi from over two hours to less than 40 minutes and boost economic activities across Mararaba and the entire state.”
He added that the project is possible due to increased federal allocations to states following President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.

“The governor wouldn’t have embarked on this project if the state was not getting enough funds from the federal government. Even as the least in terms of federal revenue, His Excellency is utilising the resources judiciously and approves funds for payment without delay,” Wada said.
The team also inspected the completed Lafia Flyover, Underpass and Interchange; the Akwanga Interchange and Underpass; the ongoing Dalhatu Arab Specialist Hospital in Akwanga; and the Total Flyover Bridge and Underpass in Keffi.
According to officials, the Keffi project is aimed at reducing road accidents and traffic congestion in the commercial town.
Speaking at the end of the tour of Benue and Nasarawa states, Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mr Tunde Rahman, said the projects showed how sub-national governments are responding to citizens’ needs with increased federal allocation.
“What you have seen are some of the gains of the reforms undertaken by President Bola Tinubu, as testified by Governors Abdullahi Sule and Hyacinth Alia,” Rahman said.
“There were initial difficulties when the reforms started, but those have given way to benefits. This Mararaba flyover is part of those benefits. Forget the opposition who claim nothing has been done. Seeing is believing.
“Governor Sule has turned Nasarawa into a huge construction yard, just like Governor Alia in Benue. Both said they were able to do this because federal reforms freed up resources and gave them more fiscal space.
“Anyone who has done well in one term deserves another term. Mr President has done well and deserves re-election to continue the work. I appeal to Nigerians to look at the president’s achievements and let them guide their voting decision when the time comes.”
