A 32-year-old man, Joseph Ojo, was, on Tuesday, arraigned in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring with others to assault an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Ojo, whose address was not provided, is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, wilful damage and breach of the peace, before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Ogolonto area of Ikorodu.
Iberedem said that the defendant assaulted Mr Kunle Olukoga by stabbing him on the hand with a broken bottle.

The prosecutor added that the defendant willfully and unlawfully damaged the officer’s uniform worth N10, 000.
The prosecutor said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by refusing to return the officer’s phone which he forcefully collected from him.
Iberedem said that the offences contravened Sections 411, 173, 350 and 168(d) of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs F.A Azeez, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 2 for mention.
