A 24-year-old man, Rasheed Amodu, was on Monday docked before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a cell phone (Infinix) valued at N65,000.
Amodu, whose address was not stated, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Nkem Ukor told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 16 at about 2.30 p.m at No 33, Wusu Ofu St., Oko Afo area of Lagos.
Ukor said that the defendant stole one Infinix 33x Phone valued at N65, 000, being the property of Akinyemi Akindele.

“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace by stealing the phone and instigated the public against the complainant.
“He (defendant) was caught during the act and was handed over to the police for prosecution.
“The offences contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,’’ the prosecutor said.
Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya, however, granted the defendant bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until Feb. 25 for mention.
