Major General Jude Ogunlade, has officially resumed as the General Officer Commander (GOC), 8 Division in Sokoto to replace Major General Hakeem Otiki, who was transferred to Army headquarters.
This is contained in a press statement signed by the Acting deputy director, Army public relations for the 8 Division in Sokoto, Lt. Audu Arison Arigu, and made available to journalists on Friday.
According to Arigu, “in reference to postings of Nigerian Army Officers promulgated by the Army Headquarters to re-strategise its operations, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto Major General Jide Ogunlade on Wednesday 31 July 2019 assumed command of the Division.
“Prior to his additional appointment as the GOC 8 Division, General Ogunlade was the Force Commander Operation HADARIN DAJI, a Defence Headquarters-led operation ongoing in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
“In a colourful traditional military handing and taking over ceremony at the Division Headquarters in Kalambaina, Sokoto, Major General Ogunlade thanked his predecessor for his leadership role in the successes recorded in various operations undertaken by the Division and also wished him success in his future endeavours.
“The new GOC further urged officers of the Division to remain resolute and committed to achieving the overall vision of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai which is “To have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles”.
