TEN cadet chaplains of the Mission for Africa Chaplaincy Corps, at the Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, have graduated.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant General, Africa Chaplaincy Corps, Chaplain General Paul Chum Monday, said MAC Corps members were to complement where government efforts.
He also noted that the corps members worked in conjunction with security operatives and traditional rulers.
In his speech, the Oyo State Commanding Officer, Chaplain Major General O.A. Adekitan, said the organisation was about conversion and love, with members rendering selfless services and acting as bridge-builders between God and men.
At the event, which featured the presentation of awards to deserving members and dignitaries, Regional Commanding Officer, Chaplain General Joseph Afolabi, who said the Corps motto was Service to God and Humanity, added that MAC Corps was a uniformed organisation for noble people.
In his response, the Olupo of Oluponna, Oba Oyebamiji Oyefeso Emmanuel, expressed willingness to partner with the organisation, while the Onikin of Iponikin, Oba Solomon Ojo Oyewo, appreciated the corps members for their unique services.
Also speaking, the newly decorated Chaplain, Lt. Col. Ayodeji Adelowo, promised on behalf of other graduating members, to uplift the tenets of the corps and thanked the Bowen University authorities for providing the facility for the take-off of the organisation.
At the event were the representatives of the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Matthew Ojo, and the Registrar, Dr Kayode Okuneye; the Police, FRSC and the NSCDC.
Also in attendance were the Ogun State Commanding Officer, Chaplain Sunday Olawoye; Chaplain Lt. General Aderonke Aderemi, and members of the organisation from Oyo and Ogun states.
