LITF 2024: LCCI urges govt to fix key drivers of inflation, as fair ends

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged governments at all levels to fix key drivers of high inflation, and create an enabling environment, so as to fully harness the vast enterprising resources of domestic and foreign investors.

The Chamber’s President, Mr Gabriel Idahosa, made the appeal at the closing ceremony of the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF), which ended on Sunday, in Lagos.

Idahosa identified the issues of insecurity, lack of infrastructure and inappropriate policies as some of those factors holding down the growth of businesses in the country, and which therefore require governments› urgent attention.

He, however, commended the Lagos State government for its disposition and commitment towards promoting close collaboration between the state and the organised private sector in Lagos.

The LCCI boss also expressed the delight that despite the numerous challenges, associated with hosting large exhibitions, the Chamber was able to ensure a hitch-free and successful Fair, throughout the ten days the fair lasted.

“However, as in most human endeavours, there may have been some areas for improvement. We have taken note of such feedback on the strategy for the 2025 edition.

“We look forward to a better, bigger, and richer 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair holding from Friday, 7th to Sunday, 16th, November 2025,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu commended LCCI for sustaining the legacy and success of the fair, over the past 38 years.

He believed the platform has, during the period, consistently brought businesses together, and provided the opportunity for convergence of ideas and economic aspirations.

«This year’s theme, “Connecting Businesses, Creating Value,” aligns perfectly with Lagos State’s vision to foster partnerships, drive innovation, and build an environment where businesses of all sizes can thrive,» he stated.

Sanwo-Olu added that the administration, which is guided by the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Development Agenda, is out to transform Lagos into a true megacity, that will be able to compete globally and nurture an ecosystem for growth and prosperity.
