The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development (LSMYSD) is set to raise the first Lagos State Youth Ambassador through its Ibile Youth Academy.
The ministry’s commissioner, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf made the disclosure during the opening ceremony of the Ibile Youth Academy at the Epe division during the week.
The maiden edition of the academy will be taking over a hundred youths between the ages of 16 and 24 from each of the divisions of the 25 Local Government Areas of the state on leadership and citizenship training. According to Akinbile-Yussuf, the five-day training programme that will be held in the all designated divisions across the state will extend to a camping session where the first Lagos State Youth Ambassador and Divisional Ambassadors will emerge.
Speaking she said that “at the end of the five day training, the best ten participants from each of the divisions will proceed on a camping exercise which will further expose them to more detailed leadership topics, challenging tasks and outdoor activities that will bring out their hidden talents, skills and potential.
“The camp will also afford the participants the opportunity to push boundaries, build their confidence, think outside of the box and enhance personal development.
“At the end of the camping exercise, the participants who distinguishes his or herself as the exceptional and outstanding will be named the “State Youth Ambassador 2017,” while the leading participants from each division will also be named “Divisional Youth Ambassadors.
“In simple terms, Ibile Youth Academy is about helping the participants chart a path for a progressive and prosperous adult life, while promising to be life-changing and a once-in-a-life-time experience.”
