AHEAD of local government elections holding the state and in preparations the exercise slated for July, Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a body called election council with specific mandate to take charge of activities of the party as relating to pre elections till post elections.
The party made this known on tuesday in a statement issued by its publicity secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, saying that the 25-member body headed by Mr Tolagbe Animashaun, was put together to work towards improving the party’s success as against what it recorded in the last general elections in order to increasing its areas of political control.
The body, according to the party, will as part of its duties continue to interface with the State’s Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for any clarification of doubts on any of PDP candidates.
“The election council is geared towards improving her (party) success from the number of councils won in the last general elections to increasing areas of political control. The Chairman of the council is a seasoned politician with high integrity and has promised to give all aspirants fair game in order to give to Lagosians best hands to serve them.
“We are also aware that the LASIEC is being put under pressure by the APC- led government to disenfrachise our eventual candidates. This council is to now continue the interface with the electoral body for any clarification of doubts on our candidates,” the party said.
