SEQUEL to my views published in the January 31, 2017 edition of the Nigerian Tribune on the crisis rocking the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH), I am once again advocating that the university should be solely owned by Oyo State.
This is because of the persistent failure of the owner states to pay the salaries of workers under the present arrangement.
A recent analysis by the vice chancellor of the university showed that the two states are currently owing the university N7.8 billion in subventions.
Out of this figure, Oyo owes N1.8 billion while Osun owes N5.5 billion. Let us consider the disparity dispassionately.
Stakeholders and eminent personalities in the two states should put their heads together and hand over the control of the university to Oyo State.
This is because Osun State has established its own university, but Oyo has not.
