Lanlehin extols Ayoola’s virtues as ex-Speaker is buried this week

Published by

As the remains of a former Speaker of the Oyo State and Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Right Honourable Kehinde Ayoola, are committed to mother earth this week, 2019 governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has urged the people of the state to take solace in the deceased’s “excellent legacy.”

Lanlehin, who described Ayoola’s death as tragic and painful in a condolence message, noted that the former speaker was “a unique and precious wet tree in the forest of Oyo State, indeed Nigerian politics.”

Ayoola, who was elected Speaker in 1999 during the administration of the late Lam Adesina, died on May 14 and will be buried on Thursday.

In his tribute to the departed former parliamentarian, Lanlehin said he “was a man of unimpeachable integrity, matchless character, profound depth and great wisdom, whose eloquence and mastery of the written word gave him off as an intellectual whose foray into politics underscored the need for the incursion of more professionals and pragmatic thinkers into Nigerian politics.

“Ayoola was a decent man, a man of sincerity and his word. He was a quintessential Yoruba Omoluabi.

“One attribute of the deceased whom I had the privilege of interacting with was his ability to relate across age groups and party divides, as well as his broadmindedness, a tendency which adveetised his humanism

“I pray God to grant a repose ot his great soul as well as grant us all the fortitude to bear this extremely irreparable loss. We can only take solace in the fact that he left behind an excellent legacy.

Lanlehin, who represented Oyo South District between 2011 and 2015,  said the deceased would be missed by all

He condoled with the family of the deceased, particularly his wife, Professor Olukemi Ayoola and the children, the governor of Oyo State, the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi  Adeyemi III and associates, asking God to strengthen them to bear the loss.
