A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Rasheed Makinde on Monday donated nine boreholes to Ojokoro community of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area to address the problem of water supply.
Makinde, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, said the gesture was occasioned by the demands of the people.
“As a CDA (Community Development Association) person, I am part and parcel of this community.
“I took time to ask for their demands, and one of them is water, which necessitated the provision of these nine boreholes across the seven wards in Ojokoro.
“The request came from the people and our intervention has also been extended to education and other areas in our bid to alleviate the suffering of the people,” Makinde said.

The lawmaker said that his various interventions were targeted toward the youth, women, widows and other vulnerable groups.
He promised to do more if given another mandate to represent the constituency in the March 9 governorship and house of assembly elections.
Inaugurating the water projects, Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolobo, APC Chieftain, Lagos West Senatorial District, commended the lawmaker for his intervention, saying the gesture was borne out of love and passion to address the problems of the people.
Enilolobo, the Lagos State Organising Secretary and Director of Mobilisation, Sanwoolu Independent Campaign Organisation said: “Our honorable has done us proud.
“He has done marvelously well, I want to commend him on behalf of the people of Ojokoro.
“This is not his responsibility, but he, out of his love for the people, provided this. He has done beyond the function of a legislator. This is not the first, he has been doing a lot.
“We all know the function of legislators, but he has given us this apart from the good representation he gives us at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” Enilolobo said.
He urged the electorate to reciprocate the gesture by voting for him and ensuring victory for APC on March 9, in the governorship and house of assembly of elections.

Mr Tunde Adeshina, a resident of the area who commended the lawmaker for the gesture, said that water was a very important need of the community, and the project would reduce the problem of the people.
Adeshina, a sport director, said that a big problem had been solved in the community, and called for more dividends of democracy to the people.
Elder Oluwole Gbadamosi, the Chairman, Joint Community Development Association (CDA), Ward E, Ojokoro, commended the lawmaker and advocated for more access roads and drainage in the community.
Mr Hameed Tijani, the Executive Chairman, Ojokoro LCDA, who also commended Makinde, said that the council would continue to address the pressing needs of people in the area.
