Lagos Free Zone partners with Rotary to promote community health

In a bid to promote community health and well-being, Lagos Free Zone (LFZ), the first privately owned free trade zone in Nigeria and most preferred investment destination in Nigeria, has partnered with the Rotary Club of Eko Atlantic, and Rotary Club of Lagos-Palm Grove Estate to hold a health camp for the people of the host community of Ibeju-Lekki.

In partnership with the Clubs, the company held a comprehensive health camp, including eye screening and blood donation drive in Ibeju Lekki between October 17 and 19.

The Indo Eye Care Foundation and Rotary District 9110 under the Rotary Family Health Days programme supported the health camp.

Speaking about the wealth of collaboration and the positives that can come out of it, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Dinesh Rathi, said “This event is a testament to the shared commitment to improving the lives of individuals in our community. We applaud the support of every organisation that collaborated with us.”

In his remarks at the event, the president of the Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate, Rotarian Anuj Murarka, applauded the importance of the event.

“This health camp truly exemplified the spirit of service. From health checkups and blood donations to essential medicines and mosquito nets, this initiative reached out to eight different communities, making a significant impact on countless lives. Together, we’re building a healthier and happier future for all,” he said.

Also present was the President of the Rotary Club of Eko Atlantic, Rotarian Sadananda Melanta, appreciating the collaboration, said, “Our heartful thanks to the Chairman of Tolaram and a Rotary member, Rotarian Mohan Vaswani, for inviting us to participate in such a mega community service project. The response to the camp was tremendous, and the awareness program was excellent. A healthy community is a wealthy community.”

The three-day event was a beehive of activities as residents of the community came out in large numbers to take advantage of the exercise.  Over 750 participants, including adults and children, benefited from the health camp, with over 350 people screened for eye check-ups.

The blood donation drive was a success, too, as over 130 pints of blood were collected and handed over to the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Committee.
