The Executive Chairman, Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Apatira, on Tuesday, presented utility vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, Area ‘C’ Command, market leaders and other notable stakeholders within the council area to aid security and efficient service delivery.
According to the council chairman, the presentation is to ensure that the police in the district swiftly respond to distress calls and also manage community safety more effectively.
Dr. Apatira emphasised that investing in the police force is essential to creating a more secured environment where residents can live and work without fear.
Apatira also presented vehicles to community and market leaders including the CDC Chairman, the Iyalode of Surulere, and the Baba Oja of Oba Onikate Market.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, he said, “Each of these leaders plays a pivotal role in Surulere’s socio-political and economic landscape. They represent different facets of community life, from commerce, politics to cultural heritage. Our aim is to support these leaders in their day-to-day activities, allowing them to respond quickly to community needs.
Members of the management team are also not left out. We recognize that a well-equipped management team can better serve the needs of the community. The vehicles provided to them will enhance their mobility, allowing for a more efficient and coordinated approach in addressing local issues. This aspect of the donation underscores the administration’s approach to community development, recognizing that each segment of leadership plays an essential role in the growth of Surulere Constituency.”
In addition to the vehicles, the council chairman also presented state-of-the-art computer equipment to cabinet members, councillors, and the management team.
This technology donation aligns with his vision for a modernized and digitally capable local administration.
The Council Chairman stressed that, in an increasingly digital world, government officials must be equipped with the right tools to provide seamless services to the public. The donated computers are expected to enhance productivity and facilitate quicker decision-making within local governance.
