The Kogi State forum of permanent secretaries on Tuesday described civil service reform embarked upon by the state government as a progressive one capable of developing the state.
The forum said the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, deserved support to enable him to consolidate on his numerous achievements.
The forum chairman, Jibrin Okeme, made this known after the forum’s meeting with the special adviser on local government and chieftaincy affairs, Abubakar Ohere, said the civil service reforms have positively repositioned the state for better performance.
The spokesman of the permanent secretaries, Abubakar Akowe, who spoke for the forum’s chairman, said the promotion in the civil service had been quarantined from tribalism and inefficiency.
Okeme assured the governor of their maximum support in moving the state forward, adding “we are in the same boat with Governor Bello Wherever he goes we will go with him. ”
The forum, which said with the surgical operation carried out in the civil service, the service is now operating at its optimum also passed a vote of no confidence on Ohere for holding his head high in piloting the affairs of the ministry.
The forum noted that as challenging as the reforms may be, the gains inherent cannot be quantified, insisting that the state would benefit outlive the pains.
Ohere thanked the permanent secretaries for their positive inputs in the civil service.
He assured them that the government would continue to do its best in placing high premium in the state civil service.
The Special Adviser described the governor as a man with a passion for entrenching a service that would truly be the engine room of government.
He, however, charged the permanent secretaries to replicate Bello’s positive civil service reforms, urging them to sensitise Kogi civil servants on government reforms.
