Abductors of the students of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla Epe have reduced the ransom on the students to N100 million.
This is just as Saturday Tribune was informed that the abductors also insisted that three members of the gang, who were, a few days ago, arrested in Benin, Edo State be freed.
The Saturday Tribune was informed by a top police chief in Abuja that the abductors had reduced the ransom from N400 million to N100 million.
“We are monitoring the situation. They ( the abductors ) have reduced the ransom to N100 million naira in their latest conversation. We still expect them to call and reduce their demand but I can tell you that we are on their trail,” he said.
Meanwhile, a source at the Special Anti Robbery, Squad Lagos, told Saturday Tribune that the abductors had given a fresh condition for the release of the students.
The police source said that “apart from the money, they are also asking that the arrested members of their gang should be released.”
He, however, stated that “we are closing in on them. Nobody will release the arrested members to them. The abducted girls will be rescued.”
Meanwhile, a top government official, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said the state was relying on the competence of the police who were handling the rescue of the students.
