The Kano State Task Force Committee on sanitation has advised residents to embrace a hygienic lifestyle to prevent Lassa fever infection.
The Chairman of the Task Force and the state Commissioner for Environment, Dr Kabir Getso, gave the warning after monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation in Kano on Saturday.
Getso, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Hussam Khury, decried the nonchalance of residents in complying to the January exercise.

He said: “all we are doing is for the benefit of the people and they have to appreciate it by complying to what is expected of them.”
He charged residents to ensure proper hygiene as the state had reported cases of Lassa fever outbreak recently.
The commissioner warned tricycle operators to desist from unnecessary movement and learn to stay indoors for the three-hour exercise.
The committee, however, warned builders to avoid dumping building materials on drains and waterways to avoid blockage and flood. (NAN)
