THE Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday said that it had to recover no few than 70 arms and ammunition in its continuous effort of moping out illegal arms from private hands.The Commissioner, Mr Austin Iwar, gave the hint during a stakeholder meeting with the Hunters Volunteer Association from Kudan, Lere, Saminaka, and Kuba.
It will be recalled that since the exercise started over 1,000 illegal arms and ammunition have been recovered from rustlers and kidnappers.
“We don’t want to put the face of this arms because we are conducting this operation within the context of trust and respect of the people that are bringing this arms.
“We want to respect them and we want to maintain trust because without trust this program will be challenging”. he said
The CP said the command wants to make sure they mob up arms that are in private hands, saying, so that at end of the day peace and development in the State will be guaranteed.
Earlier, the Chairman of Hunters Volunteers Association, Alhaji Baba Wuro, commended the commissioner for introducing Community based policing, saying, the police have been given us all the support we need and this has been given positive results.
“We remain committed to working with police, military and other stakeholders in order to flush out criminals in our midst, he stressed.
